Frequently asked questions
FAQs
What is EvoSilica®?
EvoSilica® is a groundbreaking engineered stone developed by Luminae Group. It contains 0% crystalline silica, making it the world’s first zero-silica surface material. Designed to replace traditional high-silica engineered stones, it offers the same beauty and durability while prioritizing safety for workers, installers, and homeowners.
Why is zero silica important?
Crystalline silica dust, found in traditional engineered stones, poses severe health risks when inhaled, including silicosis and lung cancer. EvoSilica® eliminates this hazard entirely, ensuring safer fabrication, installation, and long-term use—especially critical in regions like Australia, where products with >1% silica are now banned.
How does EvoSilica compare to natural stone?
EvoSilica® matches the aesthetic versatility of natural stone, with a wide range of colours, patterns, and finishes. However, it outperforms silica-based materials in safety and aligns with stricter global regulations. It’s also highly resistant to scratches, stains, and heat, ensuring longevity.
Is EvoSilica® compliant with Australia’s silica ban?
Yes. EvoSilica® is fully compliant with Australia’s ban on engineered stones containing >1% silica. It provides a safe, legal alternative for architects, builders, and homeowners without sacrificing design or performance.
Is there a warranty?
Yes. EvoSilica® comes with a 15-year limited warranty covering manufacturing defects, ensuring peace of mind for residential and commercial projects.
What types of natural stones are available?
We offer Dolomite, Marble, and Quartzite. Each stone type is ideal for various applications, enhancing durability and beauty in your projects.
what is the difference between marble, quartzite, and dolomite?
Marble is softer and easy to carve. Quartzite is harder and resistant to scratches. Dolomite falls in between, offering moderate hardness.
Do you provide custom stone cutting?
We don’t arrange the fabrication or tell you which stonemason to go to, but we have recommendations based on your requirements and location.
How often do I need to seal my Natural stone benchtop?
You should seal your stone benchtop every 1-2 years. This helps protect it from stains and maintains its appearance.
Can I request a colour or stone for a project?
Yes, you can request specific colours or stones. Our experienced team will work with you to find the best match. We have connections to many quarries worldwide, so please feel free to ask.
